Woman to command a US combat unit formally

 

 

 

Gen. Lori Robinson took over from the US Northern Command Air Force Friday, becoming the first 

woman to command a US combat unit.

The post is one of the highest positions in the US Army and makes Robinson, who led by the US Air Force in the Pacific, the highest general oversees the activities in North America and will be defending the internal security responsibility.

The army took a step last year to open all positions of combat units for women in a historic step demolishing barriers of gender in the armed forces

The Minister of Defense Ashton Carter at a ceremony held in Colorado was broadcast to the headquarters of the Pentagon in Washington, " I have played an active role in the management of rebalancing in the Pacific region and in strengthening our ties with some of our closest allies Air Force process. "

She explained Robinson , which came within the list of the US Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People this year she holds the position " at a time when regional and global events posing serious and growing challenges to the international community and for our national security ."
